Ideas can move mountains.

Let’s get yours out there.

Publishing already takes long enough.

Don’t wait longer, even if English isn’t your first language. Get the support you need to move your writing across the finish line.

  • Have you been working with your ideas for so long that you find it difficult to look at your writing objectively?

  • Have you been struggling alone to improve the flow of your arguments?

  • Are you up against a deadline and frustrated with the small changes that still need to be made to your writing, formatting, or citations?

  • Is it challenging for you to write in English? Are you worried your English level is holding your writing back?

Native and non-native English speakers, I’m talking to you.

As an academic writer, native English speaker, and long-time language learner and teacher with a Ph.D. in Spanish, I can help you work through the final writing stages as you prepare your text for submission. I know what it feels like to stare at the page for hours, making little or no progress, because the arguments are so familiar you can no longer “see” them. I also know how valuable it is to have a nonjudgmental ally to point out the gaps and offer constructive suggestions.

I have edited dozens of texts by both native and non-native English speakers. I firmly believe that your English proficiency shouldn’t determine whether or not your ideas are shared with the English-speaking world, and I am passionate about helping you publish your work as widely as possible.

Here’s how it works:

  1. Tell me about your project and what you need.

  2. I’ll send you a quote for you to review and approve.

  3. Give yourself a break from this project while I get to work.

About me

Audrey Hansen, Ph.D.

I have been editing academic writing for over a decade while I was earning my M.A. in Spanish (University of New Hampshire) and my Ph.D. in Romance Languages and Literatures, Spanish (University of Michigan–Ann Arbor). Since 2022, I have been Associate Editor of the bilingual, open-access, peer-reviewed journal A Contracorriente: una revista de estudios latinoamericanos. I have also evaluated the work of undergraduate students while teaching Spanish literature and film courses.

I’ve been in your shoes, feeling the pressure to write and publish. The anxiety created by this pressure is powerful, but you don’t have to face it alone. As your editor, I want to eliminate some of that stress by championing your ideas, maintaining your voice, and helping you take your writing to the next level so you can get your work out there.
